Mayci Taylor: BYU Two-Sport, Sophomore Athlete is Already Making Program History

May 27, 2024

Mayci Taylor is a sophomore at BYU and a standout athlete on the track and field team. She is ranked number six in program history for pentathlon (indoor) and number seven for heptathlon (outdoor). She is also a writer for the BYU sports information department and creates content for the women's track and field team.

Mayci barely missed qualifying for the national meet in heptathlon. Her best event is high jump and she is aiming to clear 5’9 and ¼ at the upcoming NCAA preliminaries. If she is successful, she could qualify for Nationals.

Mayci juggles her studies, athletic career and her job at the sports information department. She finds ways to be efficient by planning her tasks ahead of time.

Mayci's husband, Josh, is also on the BYU track team. They met at track meets in high school.

Mayci is grateful for the support she receives from BYU’s athletic department. She mentioned the support from the trainers, nutritionists, academic advisors and many others. She also talked about how much she enjoys working at the athletic communication department.
